What if your power bank didn’t just charge your devices — it became them? That’s the radical vision behind the P10 by DockyLab, a modular power solution that merges fast charging with plug-and-play functionality. From integrated fans to smart lamps and even Wi-Fi modules, this sleek, pentagon-shaped device is redefining what we expect from everyday power. We spoke with Mark, founder of DockyLab, to learn how this all-in-one magnetic powerhouse came to life.

From Frustration to Functionality
What inspired the modular design behind the P10, and how does it improve daily life compared to traditional power banks?
Well, like we mentioned in the campaign — we’re surrounded by gadgets these days. From handheld fans and lights to routers and speakers, everything needs to be charged before you can even use it. That’s honestly pretty frustrating. And many of these gadgets have small batteries that don’t last long at all.
We started asking ourselves: Why can’t these small devices work like appliances — just plug them in and run continuously, no worrying about battery life?
At the same time, everyone needs a powerful and efficient power bank. So we thought: what if we combined these two ideas? That’s how the P10 was born — a truly modular power bank that doesn’t just charge your devices, it becomes them. It’s designed to solve real-life power and convenience problems in one elegant solution.
Magnetic Simplicity, Real Complexity
The P10 isn’t just a power bank — it transforms into fans, lamps, and more. What was the biggest challenge in making these modules plug-and-play?
Great question! To make this work, we developed a magnetic plug system with five gold contact points. It’s not just for charging — these points also allow full communication, control and power delivery between the P10 and its modules. We believe this is the first true multifunctional control system ever built into a power bank.
One big challenge was managing the circuit state — making sure everything works seamlessly no matter how or when you connect a module. It needs to be safe, stable, and instantly responsive.
Another interesting challenge: we repurposed the battery’s power button to also act as the control button for the modules. That small detail made a huge difference — it keeps the design super clean and intuitive. Instead of just combining hardware, we created a tightly integrated ecosystem.
Professional-Grade Power
Your 65W input/output is impressive. How important was fast charging to your vision of “professional-grade” mobile power?
Efficiency was absolutely key for us. We didn’t want to make just another power bank — we wanted to create the power bank. The one that feels like the last one you’ll ever need.
With 65W input, the P10 can fully charge in just around 30 minutes. That means it’s always ready when you are — no waiting around. And with 65W output, it’s powerful enough to charge everything from your smartphone and tablet to your MacBook or ThinkPad.
And looking ahead, we’re planning more modules that will need serious power — so this level of performance is not just helpful now, it’s going to be essential in the future.
A Pentagon with a Purpose
The pentagon shape is unique. Can you tell us more about the thinking behind the design and its functionality?
Yes — it definitely stands out! But it’s not just about looks. The pentagon shape is great for handheld use — it feels really comfortable in your grip, almost like it was made to fit naturally in your palm.
Functionally, it also solves a common problem with modular systems: alignment. Unlike circular designs where modules can be plugged in the wrong way, the pentagon shape helps ensure that modules only attach in the correct orientation — it’s what we call “anti-foolproof.”
And there’s one more thing: the shape makes it super easy to locate the button by feel. You don’t have to look down or fumble around. It’s small design details like this that really elevate the experience.
Looking Ahead: The P10 Power Bank Ecosystem
You mention future modules and exclusive rewards for backers. Can you give us a sneak peek at what’s coming next from DockyLab?
Absolutely! All P10 backers will get exclusive discounts and early access to our upcoming modules — it’s one of our ways of saying thanks for your early support.
We’re actively exploring tons of new scenarios where the P10 can make life easier. In our lab right now, we’re working on high-speed fans, ambient lights, mini blenders, configureable DC converters, out-door speakers and even Wi-Fi modules that could act as mobile hotspots. The possibilities are really exciting.
The P10 isn’t just a power bank — it’s a rethink of how we use power on the go. With its modular ecosystem, professional-grade performance, and user-first design, DockyLab has delivered something bold. And with a growing lineup of add-ons and innovations, this is just the beginning. If smarter, sleeker, and more flexible power solutions sound like your thing, the P10 deserves a closer look.
