Editorial review: What we look for
We review campaigns our readers would want to know about before they pledge. We're more likely to cover projects with:
-
A product that's genuinely new, useful or interesting in its category
-
Clear pricing, reward tiers and a realistic delivery timeline
-
Enough detail (specs, prototype footage, team background) to evaluate it fairly
-
A team that's identifiable and willing to answer questions
Prelaunch, live and late-pledge campaigns are all welcome. Reviews can be positive, mixed or critical, and creators don't see or approve them before publication. We never take payment for reviews. A Spotlight doesn't lead to a review, a rating or a place in a buying guide.
Campaign Spotlight
A Campaign Spotlight is a clearly labeled sponsored article that presents your campaign to GizmoCrowd readers: what the product does, its reward tiers and pricing, the timeline and the team behind it. It's written by our team in our usual style. You can check it for factual accuracy before it goes live.
Because it's sponsored, a Spotlight contains no verdict, no rating and no recommendation. We decline Spotlight requests for campaigns we wouldn't be comfortable presenting to our readers. Pricing and details are sent on request.
How submissions work
-
Submit - Send us your campaign link, launch date and the type of coverage you're interested in.
-
We review it - For editorial submissions, our editors decide whether the campaign fits our coverage and whether there's enough information for a useful review. We may follow up with questions or ask for a sample unit. For Spotlight requests, we confirm whether the campaign is a fit and send the details.
-
Coverage, if selected - Editorial coverage may be a review, a creator interview, or a mention in a buying guide or our newsletter. Our editors decide the format and timing.
When a campaign goes wrong
If a campaign we've covered runs into serious problems (missed deliveries, unresponsive creators or worse), we add a visible warning to the article, whether or not there was a commercial relationship.
