1. Who We Are

GizmoCrowd is an independent online publication covering Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns. The data controller for gizmocrowd.com is Primecontent ltd, registered in Bulgaria, Vitosha Blvd 4, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you read our website, subscribe to our newsletter, comment, contact us, submit a campaign or purchase sponsored content, and how we use it. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.

2. What We Collect and Why

Readers. When you browse the website, we collect technical and usage data (pages viewed, device, browser, approximate location, referring site) through cookies and analytics tools. We use it to understand which content is useful and to keep the website secure. Legal basis: your consent for analytics cookies, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website.


Newsletter subscribers. When you subscribe, we collect your e-mail address and record your consent. We use it to send our newsletter and, if you agree, occasional updates about GizmoCrowd. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each e-mail. Legal basis: your consent.
 

Comments. If you comment on an article, we collect your name, e-mail address, comment and the time it was posted. Only your name and comment are shown publicly. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in hosting and moderating discussion.


Contact and correspondence. When you write to us, by e-mail or through a form, we keep your name, e-mail address and message to reply and to keep a record of our exchanges. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.
 

Campaign submissions. When you submit a campaign, we collect your name, company, e-mail address, campaign link, campaign stage and launch date, the type of request and your message, plus any materials you send us. We use them to assess your campaign, contact you and, if we cover it, report on it. Legal basis: steps taken at your request, and our legitimate interest in running our publication.
 

Sponsored content customers. If you purchase sponsored content, we also collect billing details (company name, address, VAT number) and payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe; we don't store your full card details. Legal basis: performance of our contract and our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting.
 

Affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network or retailer may set its own cookie to record that the visit came from GizmoCrowd. We receive commission data, not your personal identity. That processing is governed by the third party's privacy policy.
 

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it to build advertising profiles.

3. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the website and, with your consent, analytics cookies. You can accept, refuse or change your choices at any time through the cookie banner or the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Refusing analytics cookies does not affect your access to the website.

4. Who We Share Data With

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run GizmoCrowd, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Wix - website hosting, forms, comments and member accounts

  • Google Analytics - website analytics

  • Newsletter provider - sending our newsletter

  • Payment processor - payments for sponsored content

We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect our rights, or to a buyer in the event of a merger or acquisition, under the same protections.

5. International Transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. When data is transferred there, we rely on recognized safeguards, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. How Long We Keep Data

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe

  • Comments: as long as the comment is published

  • Correspondence and campaign submissions: up to 3 years after our last exchange

  • Sponsored content and billing records: for the period required by Bulgarian accounting and tax law

  • Analytics data: 14 months


After these periods, data is deleted or anonymized.

7. Security

The website is served over HTTPS, and access to personal data is limited to team members who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

8. Your Rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing carried out before. To exercise these rights, contact michael [at] gizmocrowd [dot] com. We will reply within one month.

If you are in the European Union, you can also complain to a data protection authority. In Bulgaria, this is the Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg). We apply these rights to all readers, wherever they live.

9. Children

GizmoCrowd is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. For significant changes, we will inform newsletter subscribers.
