From Waste to Reuse
What inspired the creation of Lifelong Deo 2.0 on Kickstarter, and how did the idea of a refillable, ocean-plastic deodorant evolve into a complete sustainable system for everyday use?
The idea came to me back in 2018 while using a cheap plastic roll-on in a bathroom in Sweden. I remember thinking — why am I still using this? It was disposable, ugly, and destined for landfill. That moment stuck with me. I started imagining a deodorant that looked beautiful, felt premium, and lasted forever. But designing a product to truly last — and be sustainable at every stage — was more complex than I expected. We had to rethink everything: the materials, the refill system, even the liquid itself. Lifelong Deo 2.0 on Kickstarter is the result of five years of iteration — a complete system that makes daily care feel good, inside and out.
Reimagining the Routine with Lifelong Deo 2.0 on Kickstarter
Lifelong Deo 2.0 isn’t just refillable — it’s washable, customizable, and built to last a lifetime. How did design and functionality come together to make sustainability part of people’s daily routine?
Sustainability often asks people to give something up — we wanted to flip that. The applicator had to feel like something you'd want to keep forever, not throw away. We chose ocean-bound plastic for its environmental impact, but also gave it solid weight, clean lines, and no visible branding — so it feels timeless. Then we added modularity: 8 colours, 8 interchangeable balls, 64 combinations. Customisation makes people connect to it. It becomes your product. Making it easy to wash, refill, and use every day ensures sustainability becomes second nature — not a chore.
The Science Behind the Scent
You’ve partnered with a fragrance house with over 50 years of experience to create your new scents. What went into formulating fragrances that last longer and enhance mood naturally?
We spent years working on formulations that not only performed well but smelled genuinely beautiful. With the help of a family-run fragrance house in the UK, we developed scents designed to work with your body — not mask it. Each fragrance uses naturally derived ingredients, with top, heart, and base notes that evolve over time. We focused on balance and inclusivity: Spiced Oakwood for warmth, Orange Blossom for brightness, Silver Bergamot for freshness — plus a Zero Scent option. The goal was to create subtle, mood-lifting scents that feel gender-neutral and never overpowering.
Sustainability That Scales
From compostable refills to global free shipping, your model seems designed for real-world adoption. How do you balance environmental impact, affordability, and accessibility on a global scale?
That’s the biggest challenge — and it’s why we launched Lifelong Deo 2.0 on Kickstarter. The first version, made from anodised aluminium, was beautiful but expensive to make and ship. We needed a model that could scale, both environmentally and commercially. Ocean-bound plastic gave us a low-impact material that’s durable, affordable, and meaningful. By shipping a lightweight powder instead of liquid, we cut emissions and keep costs down. The compostable pouches eliminate waste entirely. Offering free global shipping ensures people anywhere can make the switch — because sustainable design shouldn’t be a luxury.
The Bigger Picture
Beyond deodorant, what’s your long-term vision for Lifelong as a brand, and how do you see your work aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and future everyday essentials?
Lifelong is about redesigning everyday essentials to be part of the solution — not the problem. Deodorant is just the beginning. Our vision is to create a full system of products that are refillable, circular, and made to last. We’re guided by the idea of natural harmony — connecting care for the body with care for the planet. Our work directly supports several UN SDGs — especially responsible consumption, climate action, and ocean conservation. The long-term goal? A complete rethink of personal care. Beautiful objects that do good — and last a lifetime.
