We sat down with the creator of the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter to learn how a simple frustration at the kitchen sink evolved into one of the most refined eco-friendly cleaning tools ever launched on the platform. What began as a minimalist designer’s obsession with order and elegance has now become a global movement toward smarter, sustainable everyday products.

Here is our full conversation.

From Problem to Purpose: Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter

What first inspired you to create the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter, and how did your background in design and photography influence the product’s evolution from V1 to V2?

It all started with a simple frustration… “Where do you store a dish brush!?”

As a designer, photographer, and self-appointed minimalist, I’m hyper-aware of how things look in a space… and nothing about a traditional dish brush felt considered, functional, or even remotely attractive.

So I set myself the challenge of rethinking every small detail and every pain point around the kitchen sink. That led to the invention of V1 (The One Brush), launched on Kickstarter during COVID and eventually delivered to over 1,500 backers and now more than 12,000 customers worldwide.

But V1 also taught me a lot. I obsess over details (sometimes too much), and after seeing how people used it, how they refilled it, how it aged, what they loved, and what they wished was better… I knew there was a more refined version waiting to be built.

That’s where my design and photography background really shaped V2:

  • Design taught me to obsess over functionality, materials, tolerances, and the “feel” of a product.

  • Photography taught me how important it is for an object to look timeless, considered, and beautiful in someone’s home.

V2 is the result of a full year of reworking every detail.

Refining the Everyday: Upgrades That Transform the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter

Version 2 introduces several upgrades — from a unified body and sealed metal collar to a smarter soap system. Which of these refinements do you feel most transformed the user experience, and why?

The biggest user-experience transformation actually comes from adding the new suction cup stand as an alternative stand option.

The original magnetic stand is still incredible and the most minimalist, elegant way to store the brush and works perfectly for thin stainless steel sinks. It’s my personal favourite and still the cleanest visual solution.

But the reality is that not all sinks are created equal. Lots of people have thicker sinks, porcelain sinks, composite sinks, or undermount styles where magnets simply don’t work. That created a barrier for some people who loved the brush but couldn’t use the stand properly.

The suction cup stand solves that... It’s designed for thicker sinks with smooth surfaces, locks on securely, and still lets the brush “click” into place. Suddenly far more kitchens can enjoy the same tidy, inside-the-sink storage that made the original design so special.

And what’s great is:

  • if your sink works with the magnetic stand, you still get the most minimalist option

  • if not, the suction cup stand gives you the same functionality with universal compatibility

Sustainability by Design in the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter

How does the V2 Brush balance sustainability with premium design, and what lessons from Version 1 guided these choices?

For me, sustainability only works if the product is actually better. It has to be beautifully designed, functional, durable, and feel great to use… and then have eco values built into it.

V2 takes the original design and focuses on long-lasting and recycled materials, fewer parts, and a stronger internal structure so the brush lasts far longer and avoids the “throwaway” cycle entirely. The sealed stainless steel collar, unified body, and refined tolerances make it tougher and more reliable, reducing waste over time.

Then there’s the replaceable head system, which keeps 90% of the brush in use for years while only replacing the small part that wears out. The heads are made from natural sisal fibres, so they can be composted at the end of their life.

V2 balances sustainability with premium design by starting with the user experience first, then weaving eco values into every detail that follows.

Crowdfunding and Community: Why Come Back to Kickstarter?

What role did community feedback play in shaping the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter, and what makes crowdfunding essential to your creative process?

Community feedback shaped almost every part of V2. After the first campaign, I heard from thousands of people about how they used the brush, how they refilled it, where they stored it, what they loved, and what they wished worked better. That level of real-world insight is something you simply can’t get in a traditional product development cycle.

That’s what I love about Kickstarter ~ it isn’t just funding, it’s collaboration. Crowdfunding brings together people who genuinely care about good design, sustainability, and thoughtful products. They’re not just customers… they’re part of the creative process. Their feedback, honesty, and enthusiasm push the product further than I ever could on my own.

Beyond the Sink: The Future of Yeseco

What’s your long-term vision for Yeseco, and how do you see everyday household products evolving toward sustainability?

My long term vision is to build yeseco into a global brand, but right now the focus is the brush. That is the hero. From there, we have looked at all of the key touch points around the brush and added products to complete the user experience.

I don’t believe eco products should feel like a compromise. They should be better designed, longer lasting, and more enjoyable to use. If we get that right with the brush and the overall sink experience, the rest of the brand will grow naturally from there.

Speaking with the creator behind the Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter makes one thing clear: this isn’t just a cleaning tool — it’s a philosophy of intentional living. Through meticulous design, community-driven refinement, and sustainability woven into every decision, V2 sets a new standard for everyday household essentials. It’s the kind of upgrade that doesn’t just tidy your sink… it elevates your entire rhythm at home.

Campaign Update — November 23, 2025

Yeseco V2 Brush on Kickstarter continues to grow steadily with $30,651 pledged, 503 backers, and 14 days left.

Here’s the latest from the community discussions this week:

  • Baby Bottle Brush Suggestion

A backer suggested a long-handle bottle brush for baby bottles.

Jamie confirmed the idea is appreciated and something the team hopes to explore as they scale.

  • Magnetic & Suction Stand Clarification

Questions came in about whether the bases work on black granite sinks.

Jamie explained:

  • Magnetic stand works best through thin stainless steel sinks (magnet-to-magnet).

Suction base works best on smooth, non-porous surfaces like porcelain or enamel.

  • Request for Both Bases

A backer asked if it’s possible to offer both bases together for flexibility.

This is under consideration as the team gathers feedback.

More updates coming soon as the campaign heads into its final two weeks!
